CBBC Newsround has announced that actress Jessie Cave will be portraying Lavender Brown in the next HP movie.
Newsround can exclusively reveal that actress Jessie Cave has been cast as Lavender Brown in the next Potter film.
She beat off competition from thousands of other girls who were all desperate to spend much of the Half-Blood Prince snogging Rupert Grint.

I also thought Lavender Brown was black. Throughout the years, everyone kept labelling this black girl that was an extra in HP as Lavender Brown(even EW Magazine), but I guess we were all wrong. I think she’s perfect for Lavender Brown. Sort of snobby, acts like a slut, flirting with all the boys, that’s the vibe I get from Jesse Cave(I’m not saying she is a slut, but she has that look, sort of).
I am extremely jealous of her. She gets to snog Rupert in numerous kissing scenes. I would give my life, commit suicide to have even one make out session(and more) with Rupert. She is one lucky woman. She’s 20 for Pete’s sakes!! I guess they chose someone who’s older than 18, because it would look weird if a 19 year old snogs a young 15,16 year old.
I always imagined Lavender like a blond girl and a little idiot, you know, this girls who the first occupation are the boys, and i think Jessy looks like that kind of girl =), I love her, i can’t wait for the kisses!!! hot kisses, grrr.

This girl will be the envy of girls worldwide. I think she will do a wonderful job as Lavender because according to bbc, she will be starring early next year in the drama Summerhill and the movie adaptation of Inkheart opposite Hellen Mirren. Do you guys think that WB handpicked her? Because she is two years older than the girls required to audition for the role. Hmm.. Well, all I can say is she is one lucky lass.
There was a girl who was given the role of Lavender Brown for the first 3 films but she never actually had any lines and was barely seen, except during one shot in Divination.

It never said she was black in the books. No description was ever given of her in the books, nor by JK, except saying that she had long hair, in a plait (which to be honest to me that sounds more like how a white girl might have her hair than a black girl.)

Umm Tonny, NO WHERE in the book did they ever say Lavender Brown was black. I’d always thought she was blonde. J.K never gave any physical characterisitics for Lavender, I reread all the books in order last month and all she ever gives are personality traits for her.
Alright, so this is the ‘Lavender girl’. Choice was wise, absolutely no complaints. She’s the average looking young woman, great for Lavender. I will honestly be at the edge of my seat every time she comes on because I will be soooo tweaked at the kissing scenes, however, it’s all acting so I’ll just remind myself to chill. XD
