It has been confirmed that Daniel Radcliffe will be taking on the role in a new film called the “Journey” as Dan Eldon who was a photographer that was killed in 1993.

From Hogwarts school to the hell of Somalia’s civil war, Daniel Radcliffe is to make his biggest career leap yet. The Harry Potter actor has seen off competition from Hollywood’s A-list to star in the true story of a young British photographer who met a tragic end.

The film, Journey, will see Radcliffe play Dan Eldon, a 22-year-old who was among four journalists stoned to death by a mob in Mogadishu in July 1993. Eldon left behind 17 journals, thousands of pictures and a legacy that has won admirers including Madonna and Julia Roberts.

It is said in this article by NYTimes, Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying a photographer who was killed in 1993.

Recently those images went on view in “The Journey Is the Destination,” a permanent exhibition of Mr. Eldon’s work at the new Candela/Decker gallery in SoHo. (Next year Daniel Radcliffe, the “Harry Potter” star, is to portray Mr. Eldon in a movie about his life.)

In the months after Mr. Eldon’s death his mother, Kathy, repeatedly returned to the thousands of pages in his journals, which were thick with his photographs of Masai warriors, nubile lovers and child soldiers, glued and taped to weathered maps, stamps, cut-out comic-book heroes and newspaper clippings.

I have just finished my first week back on set at Warner Brothers, and I was so excited to be in the studios again! I have started filming the sixth Harry Potter and it’s going really well. There are a few new faces around set, such as Jesse, who plays the character Lavender, who is really cool, although our characters really don’t get on in the film! We have actually just finished filming a scene with Lavender and Ron kissing, where Hermione gets really jealous which was quite fun!
