Daniel Radcliffe Buys Another Apartment in New York City
DANIEL RADCLIFFE, the actor who played Harry Potter in five movies (and counting), is starring in another sequel, this one set in the bottomless excesses of the Manhattan luxury market.Last November, he made his New York real estate debut with the purchase of a $4.3 million loft-style two-bedroom at 40 Mercer Street, a trendy glass-walled building designed by Jean Nouvelle.
Now Mr. Radcliffe, operating through his family holding company, Gilmore Jacobs Ltd., has bought a second downtown spread, a 2,450-square-foot corner three-bedroom on an upper floor at 1 Morton Square, at Leroy Street. It faces the Hudson River, with a high-flying witch’s broom view of New York Harbor. The price was $4.9 million and the closing was last Wednesday.

This time, Mr. Radcliffe actually plans to move to the apartment, according to several people briefed on the deal, in time for his Broadway debut in a revival of Peter Shaffer’s “Equus,” scheduled for the fall, performing a role he also had in the London production of the play.
Mr. Radcliffe’s brokers on the Morton Street transaction, Chris Pomeroy and Jane Greenberg at Halstead Property, are listing the 40 Mercer Street apartment for rent at $20,000, as they have since the closing last year. They declined to discuss the latest transaction.
The new apartment has luxurious features, according to the listing by Jacqueline Garrett of Stribling & Associates. There are curved windows pointing in the direction of New York Harbor, marble and granite counters and a 500-bottle wine cellar. (Mr. Radcliffe, who is only 18, will need help stocking it.)
Ms. Garrett refused to discuss the buyer.
She said that the large apartments were less attractive to families, because they are far from most established private schools: Mr. Radcliffe’s apartment was bought from Ms. Garrett’s son and daughter-in-law. They paid $2.6 million for it in December 2004, according to city records.

I think he and his family are very smart because they are investing their money in properties, plus the company that Dan helds has gain more and more money without been link to Harry Potter franchise, which is good for Mr. Radcliffe, more money from the stoke market for him.
