Emma Watson joins ‘Napoleon’

Emma Watson is attached to star in “Napoleon and Betsy,” a period drama being written and directed by Benjamin Ross.
Watson will play Betsy Balcombe, a young, impetuous noblewoman trapped on the isolated British Isle of St. Helena who falls in love with Napoleon, who is in exile on the island.
Watson is filling the shoes recently vacated by Scarlett Johansson, who stepped aside as the part skewed younger.
Johansson is still producing, along with Alexandra Milchan, Melanie Sloan and Gilles Arondeau.
Watson, who just signed with WMA in all areas, is known for her role as Hermione Granger in Warner Bros.’ “Harry Potter” films, and is completing filming on the sixth installment, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”
With filming of the last chapter, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” scheduled to commence in early 2009, Watson hopes to shoot “Napoleon and Betsy” in the fall.
Watson recently starred in the BBC telefilm “Ballet Shoes” and additionally lends her voice to the role of Princess Pea in the animated film “The Tale of Despereaux,” which Universal releases this year. She continues to be repped by Markham and Froggatt in the U.K.

Napoleon: “Betsy..my young love..I feel a strange attraction towards you”
Betsy: “What is it my love???”
Napoleon: “It´s the way you moves your eyebrows, without moving the rest of your face”
Betsy moves her eyebrows even more

My, that was just so funny I simply forgot to laugh.

Ever thought of giving up your day job and becoming a comedienne, you’re SO damn funny that we’re all splitting our sides with laughter…NOT!
*sigh* reply on April 18th, 2008:
*sigh* I suggest taking deep breaths and calming down, it was meant to be a joke and it was kinda funny lol. Unless you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t seen Emma’s acting, she does have an issue with her eye brows trying to out do her acting abilities and even though that was a bit harsh of me to say, if she wants to be taken seriously as an actress than she needs to get her act together for the acting world outside of HP and animation movies to see that she has much to improve on. Sorry for not having the same opinion as you of Emma but I know that just as there are those that would criticise my comment, there are just as many who will agree.

oops sorry the comment above mine is actually from me but I forgot to delete *sigh’s* name as it was there in the name box when I replied lol
*sigh* reply on April 18th, 2008:
I gave my opinion of the um ‘joke’ up there, not of Emma’s ‘acting’. I’m aware she moves her eyebrows a lot and needs to improve greatly as an actress. Perhaps this role will help. But that doesn’t mean I have to find that um…joke funny. It’s been overdone, and overdone ‘jokes’ only usually tickle the easily-pleased.
Anonymous reply on April 18th, 2008:
heehee… i agree with you. at times she makes her brows do the acting. >.>
“he who laughs last (or not at all)… didn’t get it.”

GET A LIFE
... reply on April 18th, 2008:
that was pretty funny. I dont’ beleive for one second she’s actually taking over for Scarlett Johannson though. No friggin way. Check imdb.com to find out the truth.
aww reply on April 18th, 2008:
Better yet, check Reuters UK. That is a very reliable source and it’s there too. Infact it’s on a number of different reliable sources now so it looks like it’s true that Emma’s attached to the film (whether you like it or not).
Emma reply on April 19th, 2008:
reuters posted it,so had imdb..so emma’s pretty confirmed.she has fr july 08 till jan/feb 09.hmmm,any news abt princess pea role?
M.U.S.C. reply on April 18th, 2008:
Haha great, funny, really… But well your opinion. I actually like her eyebrows, they’re great… especially when she’s wiggling them!
Emma reply on April 19th, 2008:
i’d say if ppl jabbed u abt ur own weakness,i dare u not to get angry and keep smiling/lauhging..even if they’re really rude…
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…. hmm, huh, what?! Oh, sorry. I read the words “period drama” and I passed out. Who watches those boring movies anyway? There must be at least one person because they keep making ‘em.
But if you want some REAL “period drama,” you should see my mom during “that” time of the month. Ha haaaa, menstruation joke!
Anonymous reply on April 18th, 2008:
Hey, What do you know I forgot to laugh at yours too!
*sigh* reply on April 18th, 2008:
Another so-called comedian.
Period dramas do very well, like it or not. If you don’t wanna watch it, DON’T WATCH IT. But other people will.
!Cath reply on April 18th, 2008:
I like your style.
Why does no-one in the movie industry realise that Emma cannot act?
She’s crap!
Awww reply on April 18th, 2008:
It’s about marketability and *opinions*. The movie makers will often opt for someone who can sell movies. They’ll also opt for someone young who they feel they can mould. If you don’t like her you don’t have to watch her but other people will have a different view of it whether you like it or not.

“Why does no-one in the movie industry realise that Emma cannot act? She’s crap!”
So you’re saying you have one opinion, and everybody who is a professional in the field has the opposite opinion? I just want to be clear, this is what you’re telling us?
K reply on April 18th, 2008:
That’s pretty much it. With some people there’s no getting them to understand that everyone’s opinions are *different*, not right or wrong - they just think that they are right and anyone who disagrees is wrong.
Momo reply on April 19th, 2008:
Exactly.
not bonnie
hahahahahahahah
Bonnie’s ‘acting’ = good luck, harry…
GO EMMA!!
if it is comfirmed for emma then good for her!she is going to need to improve her acting skills;everyone always complains how she overacts too much- well i think people shold be greatful she even has another role, this might help her ; she is going to need it for all those intense dramaic scenes in Deathly Hallows and who knows, maybe this time round her scenes won’t be so cringe whorthy!
Emma can act. She does need to improve and everyone moves their eyebrows when they talk it’s just a common fact of life you can’t stop from moving your eyebrows.
So, GET OVER IT!
Finally, a big screen movie other than Harry Potter. I agree with the eybrow bit, though. she needs to control that.
Also it would be fun to see her in a period drama, which I like more than movies set in modern times.
‘Chibi-chan’, yes everyone moves their eyebrows when they talk, but it’s something that isn’t very noticable. But Emma’s eyebrows are unique in that they have a life of their own when she begins to act, it’s natural I guess, but if her eyebrows are all what some people can see when trying to concentrate on what she’s saying, it’s very annoying and something that she seriously has to improve on. This is just an opinion though so don’t take it to heart, for all we know maybe she could improve this flaw during this movie, if she’s even in it.
i’ve never noticed emma’s eyebrows as constantly moving, but that’s just me. she does have some minor issues with her acting but she can definitely work on those. i still think emma’s adorable.
I hope this is true. Emma will be a great Betsy. Also it will give her a chance to prove her acting range. Though Betsy and Napoleon weren’t in love. They were just really good friends. I hope they cast Oliver Martinez for the role of Napoleon. 1. His native tongue is French. 2. He’s almost 40. 3. He’s not very tall like 5′9″. 4. He speaks fluent English. 5. He looks so good it hurts. He was in the film “Unfaithful” a few years back. And OMG he was so H.O.T.!!! So even if Betsy and Napoleon are only friends, with Emma and Oliver playing the part, it will make you wish they were more.
emma will b awesome as betsy.i can feel it in my bones.she alrdy is grand as hermione.those eyebrows r her trademark.no one said anything abt vivien leigh’s in gone with the wind…so??wht abt emma’s?it’s fine.
i can really see emma doing grand as betsy,hmm..will thr be kissing?love scenes?lol…i mean 14 then, was like they could marry and stuff..so i think there may be..all those drama/pg 13 stuff..
Emma is a real actress and sure she is very happy to play that role. Don’t like it DON’T COMMENT.
Olivier Martinez for Napoleon. Who’s with me. If you don’t know who he is just Google him. Google images is the best. Or look him up on you tube. He’s French and dead sexy. My reasons for him to be Napoleon. 1) He’s hot. 2) His native tongue is French. 3) He speaks English. 4) He’s sort of short like 5′9″. 5) He’s almost 40, which would make him old enough to play 40 something Napoleon. 6) I think if he were the leading man Emma wouldn’t be able to turn down the role. It would be physically impossible for any woman to do so. LOL
Birdie reply on April 19th, 2008:
Shocker, you’re right, he IS DROP-DEAD GOREGEOUS!!! I’m with you for him as Napolean.
i’m with you as well for oliver martinez as napoleon!
he’s perfect for it- and f****** hot!!
