Major scene cut from HBP

Exclusive: Tonks has only one scene in Half-Blood Prince
This past weekend I attended Collectormania 13 in Milton Keynes, England, where, amongst others, Natalia Tena (Tonks) was present. She told me about her role in Half-Blood Prince & her reaction to Deathly Hallows.
The only scene Natalia has filmed for the movie, isn’t actually in the book at all. She was only on set for the part where Death Eaters attack the Burrow at Christmas (where Harry & the Weasleys are present). She said that none of the angst of her character is there - indeed, she and Lupin are just suddenly a couple when they meet there.
In regards to Deathly Hallows, she said she was disappointed to see that they got married, due to her own personal preference towards the institution. So she doesn’t want a big wedding scene (which some fans think may happen, given the exclusion of Bill Weasley & Fleur Delacour from Half-Blood Prince). But she did say that she would love to have to ride a broom with a pregnant belly.
I’m sad. I kind of liked T/RL and I just wanted them to have a little bit more screentime. Boo.
I want to see little Teddy in DH part 2, damnit.
Natalia also said they cut the Funeral scene for Dumbledore.
“She also mentioned that they were going to cut Dumbledore’s funeral from the sixth film which really upset me. This was the first part of any Harry Potter book to make me cry and if they had done it well, I’m sure watching the on screen version of it would make me cry again. Very disappointed. (But cool to meet Nat!)”

I ain’t beleiving ANY of that until it is CONFIRMED by WB themselves (because otherwise I’ll scream).
I don’t see how they could cut the funeral scene, it’s one of the most poignent scenes in HBP. So I’ll wait for confirmation from SWB but I’ll be really pissed off if they’ve cut the funeral scene.

I don’t want to believe anything before it’s confirmed by WB..but if this is true
OMG, I couldn’t believe it if they’d cut the funeral! And I was looking forward to Bill and Fleur’s wedding, it was absolutely hilarious in the book. I really hope these are just rumours.

Why do they keep ruining the movies?
[Reply]
Oh. My. God. Please tell me this is some kind of a weird joke to annoy the hell out of the fans. Holy crap. If it’s true that they cut Dumbledore’s funeral scene, I will personally go and burn the WB studios or whatever for that matter. Anyone here wants to join me?

Kristin M. reply on May 7, 2008:
Seriously, I would be in on that. It’s rediculous. I think this is false. They wouldn’t take out such a pivotal scene in the movie, right? JK Rowling wouldn’t want this scene cut. Didn’t they say everything they put in the movie, they run by her?
[Reply]
NO NO NO! THEY CAN’T CUT IT! THAT’S EFFED UP! NOTHING? THATS LAME! WHAT ABOUT BOOK/MOVIE 7? THEY CAN’T PRETEND LIKE IT JUST DIDN’T HAPPEN. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
[Reply]
This is absolutely rediculous. I hope it’s not true. They CAN’T cut Dumbledore’s funeral scene. It’s the scene where Hermione’s crying on Ron’s shoulder and he starts stroking her hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the scene where we say our final good byes to Dumbledore’s mortal body! It’s the scene where Harry and Ginny basically break up!!!
I hope she was kidding. I heard they’re thinking of adding a new scene where Ron protects Hermione from Bellatrix, and Hermione overhears Ron talking about Lavender, and storms out of the room. They’re taking more out of the movie’s and adding completely new scenes. The movie was already going to be crappy for me because of the Ron/Lavender thing, but come on! They way they’re describing the movie now, it’s going to be uuber crappy!
[Reply]
i wonder what they are playing at!!! that scene is pivotal to the series!!! its the last we wud see of hogwarts…..(until the final battle..) n for god sake!! its dunmbledore we r talking about..!!! hagrid carried him.. aaarrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! DUMBLEDORE’S MAN!! THROUGH AND THROUGH!!!!!!

wt the **** man, if this is true. i say we boycott the film, i knew some this shit was gonna happen as soon as they hired the same guy from the last film. i bet he hasnt read the books and makes the film up as he goes along like the last film. prick
[Reply]
LOL… This is so not true, Rupert (during his Al Murray interview last montth or two) said that Dumbledore dies in this movie!!!! Your source is not even a valid source at all. funny!

Emma reply on May 8, 2008:
Dumbledore can die and not have a funeral.
[Reply]
No one is saying Dumbledore doesn’t die. But its being reported that the emotional funeral scene has been cut from the film.
I view the films as separate from the books but this does bother me, as does the fact they altered the scene where Ginny leads Harry away from Dumbledore’s dead body. I guess I don’t understand why they choose changes such as this when they seem, frankly, pointless. Rather like the way Hermione said Ron’s line, “If you want to kill Harry, you’ll have to kill all of us!” in moviePoA given that Ron was right there in the room to say it.
I’ll wait and see the film before passing judgment but I think the movie series, though well done, could have been done even better.

no what

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! They CANNOT do that; it’s the most pivotal scene in the book. If they do that, I will join Paula and Kristin M. in burning the WB studios.

WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE DIRECTORS NOW DAYS!
DAVID YATES SHOULD NOT DIRECT DEATHLY HALLOWS,
AND THATS WHAT IM HOPING FOR!
[Reply]
I’m very disappointed about this if it’s true, but I don’t think it is David Yates fault. He’s not the one who wrote the script, right? Anyway, hopefully this is just another rumor.
[Reply]
if yates cuts off the funeral scene,i suggest we potter fans march up to leavesden and give him a good kick up the a$$!!!
if tena really said so..and not kid around, then yates is a big dumb quack for cutting tht scene and putting some stupid burrow scene-aint in the books!!who cares…D’s scene must b in the movie..and the whole ending!
[Reply]
OMG what happened to David Yates,,??!!
i mean, cut the whole scenes that Tonks has in the book??
and add one that is not in the book, and, ohh.. this is the worse..CUT THE FUNERAL SCENES??!! we are not going to see the breaking between Harry and Ginny,! that parts maked me cry for a very long time…maybe J.k Rowling is very upset.. im going to go to Leavesden and kick his balls, haha, well and this is EVEN WORSE!
Clémence Poésy doesn’t want to appera in the three next movies!
what happened to her too! I mean,, without the bride, there’s no going to be a wedding! so Bill isn’t going to appear too!
What is happening to the world!
well,, gotta go!
ENGLAND ROCKS!

I wish everyone would quit bashing David Yates. It’s not all his fault about what scenes get cut. He didn’t write it. I’m just as disappointed as everyone else, especially about the funeral scene, But I don’t think the blame lies with Yates.
[Reply]
lol I wonder how much trouble Nat will get in for saying that stuff and upsetting the fandom?
I really don’t think that it’s worth getting too frantic about. Many HP fans just love the chance to flat out declare that the movie is going to be horrible…
None of the films have ever done anything that I’ve seriously disagreed with and I doubt that this one will, either.
So Nat said she wasn’t present for a funeral scene? That doesn’t mean that there isn’t something similar that encapsulates the sentiment of the book.
If you want an exact recital of the book… well, there’s the book.
[Reply]
are you f’n serious? the funeral may not be an essential part of the core plot. but it is a pivotal scene as it brings a f’n closure to harry’s fear about going at it alone. MOTHERFK. i hate WB. BURN THEM!

If there is no funeral I’m not watching. They add stupid scenes yet cut the most important scene? What a joke.
[Reply]
WHAT?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?
This has to be fake. I can believe them cutting out the Tonks and Lupin angst stuff but DUMBLEDORE’S FUNERAL?! Come on… they had Cedric Diggory’s funeral for heavens sake. They can’t give one to Dumbledore? Plus, STUFF HAPPENS AT HIS FUNERAL! I’m not gonna believe this until I see it.
and I’m still really mad about them cutting out the Bill and Fleur stuff… wtf.
[Reply]
The problem is they expect everyone that watches the film has read the books and can fill in the blanks themselves. This is not so.
My wife watched previous films and said they did not make sense.
i tried to explain the points but did not realise how much i had filled in the blanks, till she read the books and pointed out, thats not in the film.
someone needs to get a proof reader to read the script, that has NOT read the books and see if it make sense.
They can add sceens as required to make it make sense.
with the length of the books, they should think of making the 7 books over 8 films, thus getting all the points in that need to be there
[Reply]
It’s been cut. I can confirm this.
