Tearful Rupert Grint led mourners at the funeral of Harry Potter actor Robert Knox, stabbed to death in a savage street attack as he tried to protect his brother.
Robert Knox’s heartbroken mother, Sally, led the congregation in opting for colourful clothes instead of the traditional dark hues.
Dressed in a bright pink bolero-style cardigan, matching shoes and a polka dot dress, Mrs Knox had to be supported as the procession arrived for the service.
Many of her teenage son’s friends wore pink shirts and ties after the family specifically asked for the ceremony to be as colourful as possible in his memory.

Robert, 18, from Sidcup, had already recorded his role as teenage wizard Marcus Belby in Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, the new film due out in November.
The ceremony in Eltham, south east London, was taking place just three miles from the bar where he was knifed just days after finishing shooting the film.

A private funeral at the local crematorium was being followed by a memorial service at St John the Evangelist Church in Sidcup.
A tribute-laden cortege led by a grey Rolls Royce made its way from the family home followed by dozens of his close friends and family ahead of the service.
Before it set off, Mrs Knox and Robert’s younger brother Jamie stood close by the hearse with their hands clutched and their heads bowed in sorrow.

A mourner, who did not want to be named, said: ‘Rob would’ve wanted us not to be
sad, but it’s impossible not to be on a day like this.’
His father, Colin, was due to deliver a eulogy at the service and his mother to read out a poem.
The teenager, who had been an actor since the age of 11, completed filming the latest Harry Potter movie five days before his death and had signed to appear in the next film.
He had also appeared in The Bill, the 2004 film King Arthur, and alongside actor Nicholas Lyndhurst last year in BBC sitcom After You’ve Gone.
It is believed he was trying to protect his younger brother Jamie, 17, on the night he was killed.
His death on May 24 brought the total number of teenagers murdered in London this year to 14.

* Karl Bishop, 21, of Carlton Road, Sidcup, has been charged with Robert’s murder and wounding with intent. He is due to appear at the Old Bailey in September.

This is so sad. It’s weird because before this happend I was just talking to my friend in London about whats the “hot thing” there. And he stopped for a minute and replied…”knife crimes”.

Some perspective please. Yes knife crime is very heavy on the political and media agenda just now, and many people are trying to find ways of dealing with it. It’s being reported more now than it was a few years ago. But it is not the epidemic the media are making it out to be. There is actually more knife crime in Glasgow than there is in London. And 96% of youths in London are law-abiding. You can check the real stats on the internet, rather than reading the tabloids.

Thank you for some semblance of reason! It is disproportionate to the reality of things. Only 10% of crime is committed by young people and yet they get slandered in the press on a daily basis. No other social group (minus immigrants) is abused so freely and easily. It’s disgusting.

Not to be rude or anyhing: But why all this “Oooh poor Rupert” comments?; I would say I feel more sorry for Robert Knox´family.
It was the same thing when that girl apparently was raped (spell) at his birthday: About 80-90 % of the comments was something like “Aaaw poor Rupert”..And I was like WHAT???????…”Poor Rupert….what about that poor girl????

I was about to comment the exact same thing. I can’t believe people would even think “Poor Rupert” before thinking of the Knox family. If it was a picture of a random person crying, no one would care.

Pretty sad that only Rupert had the decency to show up at the funeral. What could the other cast members possibly be too busy doing that they couldn’t spare a couple of hours to pay their respect.

Hopefully Emm ans Dan did all their “important” things today. Their things way probably too important than saying final goodbyes to a Boy who was their Friend’s( Rupert, Alfie etc) Friend. I get it, they probaly didn’t know Rob’s Family, so that’s why i said they could have gone for thei friends atleast. Any who.. i’m just blabbing, but i’m really disappointed in all them if they weren’t there. I’m sorry guys if i’m being mean to your beloved Emma and Dan… i mean i love them too. i know i was being a bit judge mental wasn’t i.. It’s cos i was kind of disappointed.
and as for the other cast members. i ddin’t want to say anything cos they might be there, just not in the pictures. I mean they are not as big as Rupe. So just cos we only saw hi pic doesn’t mean he was the only HP person there. But if Dan and Emm were there i think maybe their pics would be the ones out there, instead of his… as usual

Well. Arcording to Robert´s dad: Dan should be attending the funeral as well. Actually the news was all over the internet, to bad if it wasn´t true, But that´s not Dans fault…Or maybe he and other cast-members DID attend, they just maneged to avoid the photographers.

OMG I just want to give Rupert a big hug! Rupert must have known Robert Knox, because I’ve never seen him this sad, I’ve never seen him actually cry. The saddest I’ve seen him was when I saw those pics of him in NYC after his grandfather died, he really looked sad there.
I feel so bad for Robert’s family. That day must have been so hard for them. My blessings to the family.
oh wow i feel for the family and im happy that rupert attended, that was very nobble of him see i know it feels to lose someone im mean i rememer losing my great uncle and the worse of it all he did’nt even know me and i did’nt know him. But whene its your blood or even a a person you did’nt know about, but knew that there were a good person’ you cant help but cry.

Kudos to Rupert for attending the funeral. I feel so sad for the Knox Family; they lost a great guy at such a young age.

Dan is in NYC right now. He has some work-related obligations. I would assume it will involve preparations for Equus. SO no, Dan did not there yesterday.
I dunno why Emma didn’t go.

R.I.P Rob Knox and my condolences to the family. Can’t imagine how much they’re suffering. He was a great guy, dying while protecting his brother. I’m glad a few HP actors attended, but the focus shouldn’t be on them. He was only 18 and had his whole life ahead of him. It’s just really tragic.

I don’t understand where the rest of the cast were? Apparently Dan was in New York doing Equess (sorry about the spelling) but where was everyone else!? I think it’s pretty sad that only 3 cast member showed up, it would have been nice if Emma had attended as one of the 3 faces of the franchise especially as Dan couldn’t make it.
