Rupert’s agency, Hamilton Hodell, who also represents Hollywood stars Hugh Laurie and America Ferrera, have updated their official site with a new movie project “Wild Target” as part of Rupert’s resume. According to IMDB, Billy Nighy and Helena Bonham Carter, aka Bellatrix Lestrange, are staring in this film as well. It is currently in pre-production and writer/ actor Jonathan Lynn’s Official Website has revealed that he will be shooting the new comedy movie “The Wild Target” in London on September 16th, 2008. The screenplay is by playwright Lucinda Coxon, based on the 1993 French film “Cible Emouvante”.
“Wild Target” rough synopsis
Into the solitary life of middle-aged hitman, Victor Meynard (Bill Nighy), come two people: Antoine (Rupert Grint), a youth who becomes Victor’s apprentice, and Ren (Helena B. Carter), a bold thief Victor’s been hired to kill because she cheated a mobster. When circumstances prevent Victor from killing her, the gangster sends two more teams to do it (and to kill Victor and Antoine). Victor decides to help Ren, and the unlikely trio ends up at his house with his temperamental mother; there, as they hide out, Victor’s attraction to Ren grows, she discovers his vocation and fears he’s going to kill her, and an ultimate showdown with their hunters is inevitable.
Helena is so damn fierce!

With Half-Blood Prince coming out in JULY 2009, I guess there is more time to work on other projects before Deathly Hallows filming starts up in Feb 2009.

What do you mean Courtney, Dan is in freaking Broadway, that’s why more challenge than a comedy movie. He’s going to be in Broadway running Equus for almost 6 months - I think any actor who is into real acting would love to be in Broadway.

Actually, comedy is not easy. You will find that many actors who usally do drama, say that comedy is harder than they thought. It’s not easy to make people laugh and to make a smart comedy. I’m not saying that drama is not hard, it is. There is a lot of emotion to it, but don’t disregard comedy.

Also, it depends on the person. Some actors are better at drama, and would have more dificulties in comedy, and others are the opposite. Both things are challenging and need a lot of work to be really good.

Well, Rupert has been said to have a great comic timing (many of his castmates have said so), and he even admitted in an interview that he saw himself doing comedies in the future. Actually, it always called my attention that none of his films outside Harry Potter were comedies, because I had always thought that that’s where he would shoot for. OK, Thunderpants was a comedy, but that was a long time ago, and I was not thinking about that kind of comedy, I was thinking about the typical English comedy, like Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Full Monty, Death at a Funeral, etc. I was slightly surprised the day the news about Cherrybomb came out, because I had never pictured Rupert doing a thriller, but I was very happy for exactly the same thing!! =D I like that he’s doing films from different genres, because that’s good for his developing as an actor. He’s working hard so as not to get typecasted!! ^^

I’m glad both Ruppert and Dan are doing well in their careers. I actually wonder if they’ll ever get to work together again after HP. I think they will most probably go their own way, and I wish them the best.

you’re forgetting that Dan is booked until summer 2010 and then he could film Journey. That’s 2 years! He can’t do any other films unlike the others who won’t have to be on set every day. There are going to be large sections where the others aren’t going to have to be there. Emma does have that Napoleon movie so maybe she can’t sign anything else until that’s over with. Rupert’s the only one with any time.

Rupert is naturally talented but Dan works hard to get better and I appreciate it. They both seem really nice but Rupert is more shy and reserved and he doesn’t handle the press and stuff as well as Dan and Emma so he doesn’t get to do as much interviews.
And did we forget something? Dan plays Harry Potter. In the Harry Potter movies. One of the most recognized characters in contemporary literature. OF COURSE HE’S GOING TO GET A LOT OF ATTENTION. It’s not like he’s going around saying “Look at me, oh I’m so good, everyone worship me”. He gives interviews only about his work, HP and Equus. Jeez.
Back to the topic, I think it’s fantastic Rupert is getting so many roles. I wish Dan and Emma would do stuff outside HP, too. I understand for Dan it’s pretty imbossible because of Equus and then DH but Emma should definitely do other projects before they start filming in February if she wants to be considered as a serious actress.
I like that Rupert has chosen to do different kinds of roles, Cherrybomb is like a thriller(to show his range) and now comedy which is what he’s good at. And with HBC and Bill Nighy - it can’t get any better than that!

I mean like other movie roles. I have a feeling Equus on Broadway is going to be huge and really make him ‘an actor’ insted of ‘Harry Potter’. It’s going to be really, really important for his career.
Since filming for DH starts in December and last for a year - and Dan is going to be in literally every scene - he won’t be able to do films until HP is over. ‘Journey’ sounds really good, I hope it’s going to happen.
I think Dan will have a long career ahead of him even after HP.
And so will Rupert. But I have a feeling he won’t do blockbuster movies. Probably something like Driving Lessons and Cherry Bomb. British indie.
Emma, well I’m not really sure. Dan and Rupert are both better actors and she really hasn’t proven herself to be anything other than Hermione, at least to me. She has classic beauty and would probably do well in period pieces, something Keira Knightley-ish. But she should really start to think about her career and start taking other roles. Will she be able to relaunche her career after three years in Cambridge? I’m not sure.
I hope she does Napoleon&Betsy.
I really hope all of them will have a long career ahead of them and I’m eager to see all of their future roles… At least we know they won’t ruin it with drugs&alcohol like Lindsay Lohan who had it all and she lost it all because of partying. They’re good kids.

I was dancing with joy when I saw that it was Rupert, but it was an immediate downer to see all the fighting going on over who’s better and all that. i’m beginning to think that sarah is fan. their ignorence level is congruent. one claims dan is the best while the other supports.
Emily Blunt is also being tapped to be in this film. Plus Johnathan Lynn is the director, he did the Whole Nine Yards, Sgt. Bilko and My Cousin Vinny as well as many other films.
