Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Set Report

A very lucky Harry Potter fan, tashlefay, had a chance to tour the Half-Blood prince set, meet the cast members and many more things which she included in her report below.

———————————————————————

Hi,
I promised I’d report back when I’d had my tour of the HBP set. Took a while to organised but we managed to get there before they finish filming in a few weeks. I’m a bit gutted because the photos we took in the Great Hall and Dumbledore’s office were deleted from my camera. They let us take a few sneaky pics as long as we didn’t reprint them; they were only to be our mementos. If anyone know of a great restore program please let me know, they were on the camera’s memory, not a memory card.

This is a completely rambling essay as I try to get everything down before I forget. I told them I wouldn’t tell anything confidential and I don’t think I’ve done that (I hope not anyway). I hope you find it interesting.

We met Dan and Tom, they were both really sweet. Rupert and the twins were about but we didn’t talk to them. Emma was away studying. I had a rugby ball thrown at me by the guys who plays Neville Longbottom and Cormac McLaggen! I said my bruise would be a souvenir.

There are mini-buses a set points about the studio, you just jump in one and they take you were you want to go. The studio is enormous, we must have walked for miles and my feet are killing me – it was worth it though! There are also golf carts lined up in rows for the cast and crews, and boxes of umbrellas that have a sign on ‘for cast use only’. Everyone else must get very wet! While driving around in one of the mini-buses we saw the two night buses, only one is drivable. There were all the props from the Riddle graveyard piled up and train tracks across the grass where the Hogwarts Express had been filmed. Usually it is filmed elsewhere but it was dismantled and assembled there on tracks laid by Railtrack (or something). There are large grass areas near the canteen and they told us the cast and crew play golf and football there in their free time.

Major scene cut from HBP

Exclusive: Tonks has only one scene in Half-Blood Prince

This past weekend I attended Collectormania 13 in Milton Keynes, England, where, amongst others, Natalia Tena (Tonks) was present. She told me about her role in Half-Blood Prince & her reaction to Deathly Hallows.

The only scene Natalia has filmed for the movie, isn’t actually in the book at all. She was only on set for the part where Death Eaters attack the Burrow at Christmas (where Harry & the Weasleys are present). She said that none of the angst of her character is there - indeed, she and Lupin are just suddenly a couple when they meet there.

In regards to Deathly Hallows, she said she was disappointed to see that they got married, due to her own personal preference towards the institution. So she doesn’t want a big wedding scene (which some fans think may happen, given the exclusion of Bill Weasley & Fleur Delacour from Half-Blood Prince). But she did say that she would love to have to ride a broom with a pregnant belly.

I’m sad. I kind of liked T/RL and I just wanted them to have a little bit more screentime. Boo. Sad I want to see little Teddy in DH part 2, damnit.

Natalia also said they cut the Funeral scene for Dumbledore.

“She also mentioned that they were going to cut Dumbledore’s funeral from the sixth film which really upset me. This was the first part of any Harry Potter book to make me cry and if they had done it well, I’m sure watching the on screen version of it would make me cry again. Very disappointed. (But cool to meet Nat!)”

‘Narnia’ Star William Moseley Reflects On Nearly Becoming Harry Potter

There was a time when everything was “Star Wars” vs. “Star Trek.” If you wanted to be a knowledgeable geek, you studied up on your Boba Fetts and your Nyota Uhuras, knew the difference between a Stormtrooper and a Klingon, and you were good to go.

Then the next generation of geekdom came along, and made life good for young actors like William Moseley. “I was up for Harry Potter way, way back,” remembered the 20-year-old. “But I don’t quite fit the bill, I think.”

Daniel Radcliffe Talks Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!

retoo
retoo

ImageWire.ca- Your Free Image Hosting Site!Daniel Radcliffe spoke recently, between shooting scenes for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, about the film and his famous kid-wizard character Harry Potter!

In the June issue of Film Review Magazine, Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, said the following…

On HP coming to an end…”It will be very, very odd to suddenly not be coming back to Harry Potter. And I’ll be sad to leave the character behind and not see on a daily basis the friends that I’ve made.”

On Harry’s “dark place” in this one…Harry is unhappy for a lot of this film, mainly becuase people keep trying to kill him. And his love life is awful, too. That’s what Jo [JK Rowling] does so well, combining everyday, mundane problems with this incredible other world.”

Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching.

Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts.

Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates! And then there’s Hermione, simpering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof.

He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens in theaters November 18, 2008!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The author of a Harry Potter encyclopaedia cried on Tuesday as he told a New York court about his devotion to the series of books about the boy wizard and denied accusations by J.K. Rowling that he plagiarized her work.

Rowling and Warner Bros. are suing independent U.S. publisher RDR Books, which plans to publish “The Harry Potter Lexicon,” a 400-page reference book written by Steve Vander Ark. The book by the boyish-looking former librarian is based on his popular fan Web site, www.hp-lexicon.org.

Rowling, 42, told court on Monday that Vander Ark’s plans for an unofficial encyclopaedic Harry Potter companion book and the stress of the lawsuit had stifled her creativity and caused her to stop work on a new novel.
