Harry Potter author JK Rowling gave prisoners learning to read a “real boost” when she visited them in jail.

The millionaire author presented awards to inmates at Edinburgh Prison.

Rowling, whose writing has brought her millions of fans worldwide, was invited to carry out the honours by the Shannon Trust. The London-based charity helps prisoners across the UK learn to read.

ACTORS working on the final Harry Potter film The Deathly Hallows believe it is CURSED after being plagued by a series of mishaps.

In the latest incident, on Wednesday, shooting was axed when the set was battered by storms.

Daniel Radcliffe, 18, who stars as the boy wizard, has received death threats from a stalker.

And filming at Farnham, Surrey, has been halted by streakers and mistakes involving special-effects fog.

An insider said: “Actors are feeling the movie is jinxed.

“As this is the final Harry Potter film, dark forces are at work to prevent us finishing.”

Deathly Hallows, Part 1 is due for release in November 2010.

DANIEL bravely performed a daring stunt scene when his double failed to turn up. He was yanked from a burning building by a wire attached to a 100ft crane.

It’s been reported that a scene in HBP has been filmed where Ron helped win the Quidditch Cup and Lavender runs up to kiss him while Hermione looks on with jealousy.That’s a new scene written for the Film, because in the book we never see how the Quidditch Cup Final plays out since Harry is detention with Snape because he sliced up Draco Malfoy with that Sectumsepra spell.

Also, they apparently put Lavender in GLASSES and she’ll have her long hair CURLED and blonde.
This is the second confirmed kissing scene that Rupert has had to do for HBP.
(late last month Emma confirmed that they’d filmed the first kissing scene between Ron and Lavender)

The character Katie Bell has been cut from HBP, a last minute decision by Director David Yates and Producer David Heyman. She is being replaced by Cho Chang when she gets cursed by that bhnecklace and nearly killed.

WATFORD, England — It’s official: Eight will be the magic number for the “Harry Potter” film franchise.

After months of rumors, Warner Bros. and the producers of the massively successful movies will announce Thursday that they plan to split “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” J.K. Rowling’s seventh and final “Potter” novel, into two blockbuster films — one to be released in November 2010 and the second in May 2011.

The films will be titled, simply, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II,” according to producer David Heyman. Director David Yates, who returned for his second tour of Potter duty with “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and is quite popular with the cast, will direct both “Deathly Hallows” films, which will be filmed concurrently. Screenwriter Steve Kloves also returns and, by completion of the franchise, will have written seven of the eight films.

One devoted “Potter” reader that is especially happy to hear the news is Daniel Radcliffe, the 18-year-old actor who plays the title character in the wizardry epic.

Some cynics will see the move as simply doubling the box-office payday, but Radcliffe told The Times that the split is purely in service of the story.

A Winnipeg folk group’s $40-million lawsuit against Warner Bros., the studio behind the Harry Potter films, calls for the destruction of all DVDs, CDs, video games and other items that refer to a musical act named The Weird Sisters.”The Wyrd Sisters have spent over 15 years working on and developing the goodwill associated with their band’s name,” said the group’s statement of claim filed in Federal Court in Toronto recently.

“All of these efforts will be nullified as the goodwill is wiped out in the tidal wave of fame associated with the Harry Potter phenomenon.”

Warner Bros. has not filed a statement of defence, nor has it released any comment related to the matter.

The folk group - its members are singer-songwriter Kim Baryluk, and an assortment of singers and musicians - tried to block the November 2005 Canadian release of Goblet of Fire because, like the novel on which it is based, it features an act called The Weird Sisters.

The film is based on author J. K. Rowling’s hit book. The Weird Sisters is a term inspired by William Shakespeare’sWarner Bros. removed any reference to the band’s name from the movie, but Baryluk said the damage had already been done prior to the film’s debut.

JK Rowling has stressed her disappointment at plans to publish an unofficial reference book about the Harry Potter series, court papers have shown.The authoress has filed a suit in New York City against Steve Vander Ark, a Harry Potter fan, and publisher RDR books for trying to publish the ‘Harry Potter Lexicon’, a 400-page reference book compiled from Vander Ark’s website of the same name.

In her US district court declaration, the 42-year-old expressed her frustration that “a former fan has tried to co-opt my work for financial gain”.

David Barron, the producer Of The Half-Blood Prince Confirms that the leaked script is infact real, in a interview the Australia’s Herald Sun.

“We don’t often have things that aren’t in the book,” producer David Barron told The Back Room.”But this was brought in because Jo (Rowling) was able throughout the quite lengthy book to keep dropping little snippets of what was happening in the outside world-there’d be people reading newspapers and talking about how somebody’s parents had been killed or somebody had been withdrawn from school because their parents didn’t think it was safe. And we’re made aware that the Muggle world is also experiencing these disasters, but thinks they are disasters rather than the work of Voldemort. The book is peppered with those moments, but we couldn’t do that quite so easily in the film. So (the extra scene) comes in the middle of the film and it just reminds us the world is no longer a safe place. Even in what would normally be considered the safe haven of the Burrow, nobody’s safe. I think you’ll like it. It’s quite effective.”

You may also want to note thet the person who posted the leaked script too posted the bit on Emma’s acting.

An insider working on Half-Blood Prince lets out the truth about Emma’s performance on set, ” There was just a lot of people (crew, etc.) moaning about how rubbish she is at acting”. And it seems even David Yates is not too happy with Emma, either.

I have nothing new too report, sorry. I don’t think Emma’s a bitch. There was just a lot of people (crew, etc.) moaning about how rubbish she is at acting. I have to admit she is pretty rubbish at learning her lines, her double learnt them quicker than her.

Well a lot of the crew thinks David Yates would rather have Hermione played by Emma’s double rather than her.
